The JLK Foundation is focused on providing a helping hand to single parents of minority children by awarding a scholarship to help cover housing expenses. Our goal with this scholarship is to help these families by giving them an opportuniy to get ahead in their finances, which is an essential part of creating financial gain in our community.

We strongly believe that this scholarship wIll change the lives of many. being a single parent has its own set of unique challenges and adding financial strain on top of that is one more hurdle to overcome. in the united states, 33% of household income is spent on housing. nationwide, 63% of households have less than $500 saved for an emergency. For one month, not having to pay a housing expense and being able to save those funds will create a lasting change in our community.
